Is your website impressive and the fonts appealing? Please note, The integration rich people database of digital fonts - web fonts - is subject to the GDPR and therefore requires user consent. Read this blog article to find out why this is the case and how you can still use these fonts in a data protection-compliant manner.

What are web fonts?
Web fonts are digital fonts. Google and other providers provide fonts that companies, web designers and other website operators can use free of charge. This makes websites individual and enables varied, creative typography on the web.

Unlike conventional fonts, web fonts are not automatically saved on your computer, but on a server of the provider. This saves your server resources, but can be questionable in terms of data protection and the General Data Protection Regulation ( GDPR ).

What do web fonts have to do with the GDPR?
Each time you visit the website, the digital fonts are made available online by the provider’s servers.

This means that, among other things, the IP addresses of visitors are automatically forwarded to the provider. However, because IP addresses are personal data , forwarding is not permitted without the visitor's express consent.
