However, when asked about the relationship between the media and democracy, nine out of ten respondents want above all reliable, verified and independent information, the foundations of quality journalism. Traditional media tend to converge in a slight drop in trust (from 44% to 49% credibility , no media obtains a majority of trust from the French ) while trust in the Internet collapses against a backdrop of scandals around our data and attempts to dismantle Gafam. Less than one in two French people believe that the media report the facts in a credible and truthful manner, while only 24% of those surveyed in the barometer now consider the Internet to be a reliable source of information.
