The Act on Vitalizing Local Economy and Overcoming Population Decline and Vitalizing Local Economy was enacted in 2014 with the aim of revitalizing regional areas.
The second phase of the "Comprehensive Strategy for Overcoming Population Decline and Vitalizing Local Communities," which begins in fiscal 2020, sets out basic goal 4 as "creating attractive communities where people can gather and live in peace."
Safety and security are essential to revitalizing the local economy. To achieve this, disaster prevention measures against natural disasters, which have occurred frequently in recent years, are urgently needed.
"Email" as a means of communication suitable for disaster prevention measures
Currently, there are various means of communication, including telephone and social media. According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, on average, just under 50% of people use "email" as a communication tool (※1).
Additionally, the most common reason seniors use the Internet is to "send and receive e-mail"(※2).
For these reasons, email can be said to be an effective tool even in areas where the population is aging. By utilizing email, which is used by people of all ages, it is possible to deliver safety information to more local residents.
