What's inside the box?
The packaging is minimalist and includes only the bare essentials to get started. Keep in mind that a cooler is not included, so you’ll need to budget for a separate cooling solution.
At the time of writing, the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X is a premium processor in AMD’s high-end Ryzen 9000 series, second only to the flagship AMD Ryzen 9 9950X. Like all other processors in the series, it’s based on lebanon telegram data the Zen 5 architecture, AMD’s latest and greatest. In theory, processors built on this architecture, including the Ryzen 9 9900X, offer a massive 16% increase in IPC instructions per clock over Zen 4, improving performance at similar clock speeds. Zen 5 uses an improved 4nm manufacturing process, which not only improves power efficiency but also helps control temperatures.
AMD Ryzen 9 9900X Close-up
The Ryzen 9 9900X has twelve cores and 24 threads, with a base clock of 4.4 GHz and a boost clock that reaches 5.6 GHz. Its thermal design power TDP is set at a surprisingly low 120 watts, which is significantly lower than its predecessor’s 170 watts. The improvement helps with power efficiency and thermal performance.
This processor has 12 cores and 24 threads.
In terms of memory, the Ryzen 9 9900X supports up to 192GB of DDR5 RAM with a default speed of 5600MTs. It also supports AMD EXPO for easy overclocking, meaning you can use much faster memory if you want. In terms of cache, we’re looking at 960KB of L1 cache, 12MB of L2 cache, and 64MB of L3 cache, which is enough to deliver fast performance in even the most demanding applications.
