What worries publishers even more is the new role that platforms are taking on in funding journalism. They claim to give carte blanche… However, the initiatives they fund can only shape journalism in a way that is advantageous to them.
Platforms, having siphoned off publishers’ advertising ivory coast cell phone number list revenue, are it — but on their own terms. This highlights a key question: how do we build and maintain technically and ideologically independent media organizations?
