Evaluation of large amounts of data in the context of companies. Large amounts of data can be collected via sensors, mobile phones, machines, customer cards, vehicles or come from social media and numerous other sources and, due to the large volume, must be stored, processed and evaluated using special procedures. I would like to present two relevant studies on this topic, which I analyzed in the course of my research work and thus convey the current status. Enjoy reading!
Study 1: Bitkom 2014
The first study was conducted by Bitkom in 2014. Senior managers of German finance and banking email list companies were surveyed online with over 500 participants. The study is no longer completely up to date, but the information can help to compare the results from 2014 with the second selected study from 2018. First, the Bitkom study (2014) will be presented.
The aspect of the use of big data in companies is worth highlighting. According to the study, 9 out of 10 participants initiated projects in the company at the time of the survey that could be assigned to the topic of big data. The companies try to evaluate the following data:
