But now it's slightly different. On August 24, 2021, webpage titles: “ Last week, we introduced a new system for generating webpage titles. Previously, titles could change based on the query. That will generally no longer be the case with our new system. That’s because we believe our new system produces titles that work better for documents in general, to describe what they’re interested in, regardless of the specific query.” Google goes further and says that it might use the text from the H1 tag or other prominent text or headings on the page for the title displayed in the SERP.

And wait, Google even adds: " Other text on the page may be zimbabwe business email list considered, as may the text of links that point to the pages. " So Google can go quite far to find what it thinks is the best title for a page. The SEO world is used to Google changing things here and there and showing what it thinks is best in the SERPs. But the change has raised some concerns among the SEO community, especially since Google has said the new system produces " better headlines ."
